Is your agency interested in expanding or creating a social media team? This session will discuss how the Huntington Beach Police Department expanded their Social Media Team from a single person and Twitter account to multiple successful accounts including, Facebook, Twitter Instagram, Nextdoor, and You tube. Topics will include the challenges involved in developing a team, long term goals, selecting the right team, training your staff, posting guidelines, and expanding community engagement.

Lieutenant Timothy Martin, Huntington Beach Police Department
Timothy Martin is a Lieutenant with the Huntington Beach Police Department, CA with 22 years of law enforcement experience. He is currently assigned as the Professional Standards Bureau Commander, which includes the Press Information and social media office, Property and Evidence Unit, Crime Scene and Evidence Unit, Training and Community Relations. Since 2014, Lieutenant Martin has managed the department’s PIO and recently created a new social media team. He has expanded the department’s social media platforms to include Instagram and Nextdoor and added 8 additional members to the social media team.
