The nation’s first Government Social Media Regional Training (GSMRT) was held in Huntington Beach, California on September 13 & 14, 2016. The event was co-hosted by Government Social Media LLC (the founders of GSMCON) and the Huntington Beach Police Department.
We’ll be planning our next regional training in a location on the eastern side of the U.S. in 2017. Please reach out if you have venue ideas or want to help make it happen.
GSMRT featured networking and beginner to advanced training designed to educate local and state government agencies on best practices related to social media. Attendees walked away with practical knowledge and information on how to set up, manage and be successful in using social media for numerous purposes in government.
Who is GSMRT training for? Social media coordinators for local, regional and state government, including public safety. Other agencies such as federal welcome as well. Some of the sessions focused on social media issues in the greater California region, although staff from any agency regardless of location is welcome to participate.
