How it Works

We'll guide you through the entire process of creating a social media plan for your government agency in two weeks, starting July 30, 2018. We'll use a combination of live webinars, worksheets and daily emails to keep you on track. You’ll walk away with a plan that you can implement or continue to refine after the course.

Master Checklist

This “Kitchen Sink” master checklist solves one of the most common challenges agencies have with getting a social media plan underway - not knowing where to start! Our master checklist shows the most common topics that appear in government social media plans. Simply check the components that are right for your agency, and you'll have a solid roadmap to start with.

Live Webinars

This is where your expert coaches will walk you through the four phases of developing your social media plan (goals, strategies, tactics and rollout). During the two week course, we'll host one live webinar every Tuesday and Thursday (July 31, Aug. 2, 7 & 9) at 10am PT | 11am MT | 12pm CT | 1pm ET. We recommend participation in all 4 live webinars, but if you can't make it, they'll be recorded and available to review on our course website for one year.

Blueprint Worksheets

High level best practices are helpful...but what we've found even more useful is walking agencies through exactly what they need to know to build their social media plan.

We've developed an innovative digital "Blueprint" to guide you through the process of creating your social media plan. During our webinars and daily emails, we'll reference the Blueprint as your guide - it includes pointers from pros, sample language, fill-in-the blank prompts and more! We'll email a digital PDF Blueprint when the course launches. Fields are fillable digitally, or feel free to print and write in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you really write a social media plan in 2 weeks?

Yes, but it depends on your level of commitment. We’ll guide you through the entire process of creating a plan. To get the most out of this course, we recommend you block off 1-2 hours a day to focus on the writing of your plan. You’ll walk away with a solid basic plan that you can submit to your agency or continue to refine after the course. The course is designed sequentially, so if you can’t participate in the activities or webinars for a couple of days, you can still work at your own pace by watching the webinar recordings when you do have time. However, we encourage you to complete every step in the process in order to walk away with your own social media plan by the time you’ve completed the course.

How can this course help?

We’ve spent the last year developing the best way to teach government social media coordinators how to draft a social media plan through an online course. Why? Because government agencies are more effective on social media when they have a strategic plan. When we sit down with a government and work with them one-on-one, it can be very expensive for the agency, and we can’t physically reach as many agencies that we know would benefit from having a solid plan. That’s why we’ve put together this online course, so we can reach many more agencies at an extremely low cost to them. We’ve drawn on our years of experience working with public sector agencies on their social media strategies to pull together the best material for you (after all, we’re pioneers in this field!).

When will I get access to the course materials?

We’ll begin to email you course materials starting the week before course launch (the course runs from July 30 - Aug. 10, 2018). Course content will be sent throughout the course, so you'll get access to the materials for each specific phase as you get there. We've designed this course to give you manageable chunks of information as we walk you through.

Why is a social media plan critical?

Your social media plan guides your agency’s strategies on social media. Without a plan, how can you ensure that your social media posts are tied to the bigger picture - the purpose of your agency? Your social media plan is your roadmap for your approach to social media, including strategies for each platform.

Who is this course for?

The typical role for a course like this would be a public sector agency social media manager, coordinator or contributor. But it doesn’t end there - essentially anyone who wants an extensive walk-through on how to create a social media plan for the public sector is a great fit for this course.

How does this course work?

You commit to dedicating 1-2 hours a day during this two-week period to this course, and we’ll walk you through developing a social media plan tailored specifically to the mission, goals and objectives of your government agency. Through our series of live webinars, templates, worksheets and more, you will walk away with a solid framework to your social media plan, including the knowledge of how to further define, evaluate and integrate your social media plan into your government organization.

What if I'm busy during the live webinars?

All four live webinars will be recorded and available to review on our course website for one year after the course.
