Upcoming training & resources for government social media

Oct 17, 2022

Whether you’re new to government social media (welcome!) or you’re a seasoned socialgov pro, keeping up-to-date with the latest training and resources specific to your niche field is always important.

Not only is it crucial to help you be the most efficient and effective socialgov, but also is the best way to build your support network of fellow professionals. This powerful community of government social media professionals is where you can seek support, share successes, problem solve challenges and so much more together.

Get started here! Here’s where to get connected with your community in upcoming trainings and other resources specific to socialgov:

October 21: Professional association webinar

What’s the latest need-to-know news specifically for government social media professionals? Each month Team GSM’s Ariana Donley and a member of the GSM Membership Council (this month it’s West Region Representative Zach Whitney!) bring you the latest features and news on major and emerging platforms, all from the perspective of how it’s relevant to your role. RSVP & register in the professional association event to join live at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET Friday, October 21, 2022.

You must be a professional association member to attend webinars or watch the replays. Being a member of the professional association unlocks a support system for government employees handling social media — including live training, professional development tools, online resources, and a community network of your peers —for only $79/year.

More webinars will be announced soon!

October 27: Government Social Media Chat

Every other week, we get together in a text-only chat to collaborate on socialgov's most important issues in a Q&A format (Team GSM will ask the questions and you can chime in and see everyone else's answers!) in our free GSM network.

Here are a few past topics we chatted about:

  • Simplify Confusing Jargon & Processes on Gov’t Social Media
  • Rogue Social Media Profiles & How to Handle Them
  • Amplify Your Content by Enlisting Help of Staff & Community

By becoming a part of the free Government Social Media network — only available to full/part-time employees of government or educational institutions — you’ll also get access to social network contacts, employment resources and a newsfeed with questions, helpful answers & conversations with fellow socialgovs just like you.

May 2-4, 2023: Government Social Media Conference

The 2023 Government Social Media Conference is heading to Reno-Tahoe, Nevada, for our 8th annual GSMCON! We’re planning a special hybrid event where public sector communicators can meet together in person at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV or virtually from wherever you are. This is the largest social media conference for government, where attendees from across the U.S. and around the world can expect a unique experience not found anywhere else.
